Week 4: Sensory Learning & Exploring Textures
Let’s Learn Through Our Senses
This week, we're diving into the world of sensory learning as we explore textures, sounds, and all the fun that sensory play brings! Sensory activities are an amazing way to help toddlers develop crucial skills while keeping them engaged and curious.
Activities:
Texture Scavenger HuntCreate a list of textures (rough, smooth, bumpy, soft) and have the children search the room or outdoors for objects that match each texture. Encourage them to describe how each texture feels with their hands!
Sensory BinsFill bins with different materials like rice, pasta, sand, or fabric. Add small toys or objects for the children to find, providing opportunities for exploration and fine motor skills development.
Textured Collage ArtUse a variety of materials such as fabric scraps, textured paper, felt, and cotton balls for children to glue onto paper, creating their own textured masterpiece.
Homemade InstrumentsLet children make their own simple instruments, such as shakers using rice and bottles or drums from pots and wooden spoons. Have them explore rhythm and sound as they create their beats.
